Statistical studies on treadwear of contemporary belted tires, on a nationwide basis, demonstrate that: (1) In any given locality wide differences are to be expected in the performance of individual tires. The best and worst ten‐percentile groups exhibit a twofold variation. (2) Different geographical regions are shown to permit wide variations in treadwear behavior. Contour maps are presented which have a coherent pattern.Abstract
