Wandering of buses and trucks on rutted roads has recently attracted attention in Japan. The phenomenon is associated with the balance of forces between tires and a canted road surface. A high camber stiffness of tires, leading to a high yaw rate, is shown to be desirable for minimizing wandering. A lesser but still important effect is associated with cornering power. Effects on other desirable tire properties, however, must be considered.Abstract
