Abstract

Coupons from unused aircraft tires were pre‐loaded in tension and conditioned in three ways: static thermal aging, room temperature dynamic aging, and dynamic thermal aging. The degradation of peel strength between plies was then studied. The results indicate that elevated temperature is more important than flexural stress or hoop stress in affecting the degradation of peel properties. A micrographic study indicates that there is a difference in failure mechanisms between unconditioned and conditioned coupons.
