Application of a Technical Documentation System for Developing New Belt Constructions for Truck Tires

Abstract

The highly challenging activity of designing tires can be supported by different types of software. An IBM compatible PC based technical documentation system has been worked out to help with both the design and manufacturing of four belted truck tires. It has the capability for construction of tire section geometry, for processing of pattern and general assembly drawings, etc. From the basic geometrical information pre‐processing can be done by using an interface module for an in‐house finite element analysis program. Examples are shown how the belt construction has been modified for a given TOP type tire.
